VW Golf 8 2020 REVIEW: Alexa, VW Shop & We Connect VW App
The VW Golf is one of the most successful and popular cars that has ever been made and it all started 45 years ago and since then over 35 million have been sold.
It started with the MK1 Golf back in 1974 and now we are on the MK8 Golf released in 2020.
The line up for the Golf ranged from plug in hybrid to petrol to diesel with power ranging from 90Bhp to 320Bhp in the new Golf R.
And with any new Golf comes new technology and safety features that come to the mainstream.
The new Golf 8 has an updated design which is slightly wider and longer than the previous generation but brings some interesting design updates.
New headlights and rear lights stand out as most obvious from the previous generation but otherwise it is a evolution not revolution.
VW has totally redesigned the technology on the inside of the car with a new 10 inch display and digital cockpit.
Underneath the screen are touch sensitive controls for adjusting the car climate and media volume.
The infotainment system comes as standard with the 10-inch touchscreen display and includes wireless Apple CarPlay and coming soon wireless Android Auto (check out my video on how wireless connectivity like this works on the channel).
You can also add Amazon’s Alexa voice control to your car through the VW store built into your car for free – or use Google or Siri if your phone is connected.
The VW WeConnect app will let you check your car status remotely and turn on the horn and flash lights on the car.
The Golf 8 has the latest self-driving technology from VW built in with adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist to steer for you and the updated system can even keep you in lane when there isn’t a road lane marking present.
The Golf 8 is a fun car to drive with the latest safety technology and starts at £20,000 for the base model.
